Guys…. It’s June. Already. This year is just flying by! That being said, I’m going to ignore June for a moment or two so that I can describe the May edition of the Birch box. In my post about the April edition, you would have seen that I was starting to lose heart a bit; let me tell you though- They have won me over! May was my favourite box to date and I thought that it was fabulous from the outside in!
Let’s start off with the outside: Marble print? Check! Rose Gold metallic? Check! Sturdy enough for me to keep trinkets in afterwards? Check! The packaging is definitely ‘basic white girl’ material but I love it and think that it’s really cute!
Obviously, the best bit about it is what’s inside the box so let’s get to it:
Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara | RRP: £18 > This was labelled as a Birch Box exclusive and I can confirm that it is INCREDIBLE. I have been wearing it daily. It fans the eye lashes out, makes them super dark and does exactly what it says on the tin by making eyelashes voluminous. This was a real winner for me.
Benefit Cosmetics the POREfessional Matte Rescue | RRP: £23 > I used to be a big fan of Benefit Cosmetics and knowing the usual high quality of their products I was expecting good things. I wasn’t disappointed! This comes out of the packaging in a blue gel which I found a little unsettling at first but it sits well and keeps make up in place.
Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow in Vanilla Frosting |£14.49 > This is the only item in the box that I can’t be enthusiastic about. This was meant to be a full-size item but it comes in a tiny little pot. I feel that it creases in the eye easily and is just not that special an item. It does build quite well though once you layer on a generous enough amount of product.
Kueshi Hair Mask Shine and Volume | RRP: £10.50 > This was my second favourite item out of the box! It smelt amazing and left my hair feeling soft and looking shiny. I did have to use a generous amount due to how thick my hair is so I got roughly three uses out of this bottle but I still think that it’s a fair price to pay for such good quality.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Primer | RRP: £15 > This is quite refreshing once you put it on and gives off a ‘minty’ ‘tingly’ feeling. I think that it might have something in it that makes your lips plump up a bit but I feel that it acted as a good barrier between my fairly sensitive lips and the long-lasting liquid lipsticks that I tend to use which are a stickler for drying out my lips.
Overall, the May Birch Box has been a high point for me beauty wise. I think that they’ve listened to their customers complaints and have made a really good effort with this month’s box. Next month’s box (or bag as I have seen on the Birch Box Insta) has a lot to live up to!
