Pre-travel non-bucket list

It’s just over two weeks until James and I head off on our big adventure! While I am incredibly excited to see the great wide world, there are a few experiences closer to home that I feel I need to do before we leave.

These aren’t items that are of critical importance, but they are things that I’ve been telling myself over the last year that I’m going to do and as today also marks my last day in my current job it means that I can take full advantage of two free weeks and finally tick them off my list! So, in no particular order, here are some of the things that I am going to do before I leave:

Climb Pen-Y-Fan

One of  the highest mountain peaks in South Wales and something that I’ve wanted to do for ages. Are you even Welsh if you haven’t climbed it?! This is a mountain walk that I’ve wanted to do for a while. I won’t lie though, I’ll be aiming for the nice and gentle route, don’t think I’d make it to the top otherwise! You can read more about the different routes here.

Get brunch at Early Bird Cafe

I hit the Early Bird stand every time I visit the Street Food Circus. Their doughnuts are the stuff dreams are made of! I see people posting about the Early Bird brunches online and I can only assume that they are every bit as awesome as these doughnuts.

Take my little brother to Tintern Abbey

I want to spend as much time with my family as possible before I leave. This is a place that my other brothers and I would visit when we were younger kids but Alfie has never been. I’d like to change that. It’s a beautiful place so I don’t think James would mind visiting either.

Have dinner at Porro

I have never had a restaurant in Cardiff pop up on my Instagram feed as much as this one. It looks amazing! The menu actually makes me drool just looking at it.

These are just four little fun things that I plan to do during my time off before we leave. It’s not all fun and play though, the next two weeks will inevitably see me getting super stressed about whether I’m taking enough clothes or the right items but if I forget anything I know that I can buy while I’m on my way.  Besides that, I have an eye test booked. Life can’t be all glam can it?!
