I’m leaving the UK in FOUR days so I’ve had to have a real talk with myself and make a decision on what cosmetics that I will be taking with me. As a self confessed make up hoarder, I thought that this would be a really hard decision, but as soon as I finished packing my bag (without make up included) I knew that it would be only the basics that I would be taking.
Strictly speaking, I don’t tend to wear a lot of make up when I’m on holiday so I’ve focused on the make up that I do like to wear when away from home.
I’ve purchased the following items recently, these are the non make up items that I will taking in my hand luggage to use on the plane. Like many others, I find my skin dries terribly on long haul flights so I’ve included a mini moisturiser that I can use on both my arms and my face along with an eye balm and some hand cream. I’ve also included some hand sanitizer in an attempt to avoid yucky plane germs and some deodorant.
Make up wise, I’ve gone for the simple everyday items that can help me focus on my eyes and hopefully minimise any unwanted pores. I also treated myself to a setting spray because it’s currently in the high 30’s (Celsious not Fahrenheit) in Hanoi as well as it being monsoon season so I don’t want my efforts going to waste. I feel like this has been a brave make up shop because both my favourite eyeliner and concealer were unavailable so I’ve had to try something different!
Below are some of the items that I already own but would not be able to go without! I’ve chosen a really versatile eye shadow pallet (Urban Decay’s Naked Smoky) as it has a good mixture of matt and metallic colours along with both nude and dramatic colours.
I usually take far more lipstick away with me than I need so for the next four months I have decided to only take my favourite 4. I’ve gone for my favourite nude colour which I picked up in Sephora on a trip to Orlando last year, it’s the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in ‘Lolita‘. I’ve also gone for a pinkish coloured Mac lipstick in ‘Craving‘, a more dramatic purple hued Mac lipstick in ‘Rebel‘ and my favourite dark red Topshop Lipstick in ‘Beguiled’. I’ve had some of these lipsticks a while (hence their grubby appearance) but I love them and tend to switch between them to wear on a daily basis.
Another versatile product below is the Mac studio pro double stick contour and highlight- this was a birthday present and I love it!
All in all, I don’t think that I’ve done too badly in honing down my choice of product to take with me. If it turns out that I don’t have enough (which I seriously doubt) then it just provides a chance for me to sample some of the cosmetics in Asia!
